So this will be my first experiment to report on. At a grand re-opening for a salon/spa here in the Orem area, I won a free month pass to Karve studio, where they practice the barre method. I have heard a lot about this particular method and have always wanted to try it, but with the $145/month price tag I steered clear. I was beyond excited to say the least, when I was chosen as the winner of the free month! I felt like this would be the perfect regimen to try out and see if it does indeed give noticeable results within the first month like it claims.
So I took my before pictures and measurements to document:
I will post my new measurements and pictures weekly so we can see the difference.
Let me just say, I did every day this week and Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, my body was killing! I was scared for class Wednesday because I was already so sore I didn’t think I could complete the workout. Aaand…I was right, I got through it, but I had to take so many breaks and my body was definitely feelin it! When I left, I couldn’t move my foot from gas to brake without feeling soreness all the way up my leg. It’s a different feeling than normal soreness though, like if you do squats or lunges you’re really sore but it’s all in your quads and hamstrings and you can hardly stand or sit. But with this you feel the tightness in every little muscle surrounding your large muscles, so literally your entire body feels worked but not in the anguishing way of not being able to move. You feel tight, toned, and elongated. It’s a great feeling! Since the instructor/owner, Brooke had to keep helping me with my form and pushing me to finish the series, I talked to her afterward and we both decided it would be best to rest from class today. It’s good if your body gets a little break. But let me tell you, I missed it today and was seriously contemplating just going anyway. I love the atmosphere of the studio, energy of the class, and how I feel afterward. I can’t wait to go back tomorrow! It’s very low impact, but boy do your muscles work!
So for my rest day, I got up early and ran in the gorgeous Utah summer morning. There’s not much I love more than the summer mornings here in Utah, and they’re absolutely perfect to run in. It was my first time exercising before Norah woke up and I loved it, I just pumped beforehand and got back just in time for her to eat. It’s amazing how much more accomplished I feel after getting in a workout in the morning whether it’s 15 minutes or an hour, it always makes you feel better! So for this week I challenge you to simply take 30 minutes for yourself in the morning, go to bed 30 minutes earlier so you can wake up and get in a little session before your day begins. Tell me how you feel after and let me know if you don’t become addicted to that feeling even if in the beginning it seems like the most impossible thing to do!
